Recently the German federal states reached an agreement to permit online casino games on a transitional basis before the introduction of the new regulation in July 2021. What does this mean for the operators and what will happen with the online casinos in Germany?
All operators should comply with the new regulations in Germany`s gambling framework. They will be able to continue offering online casino, provided they adhere to certain elements of the upcoming legislation.
The requirements include that online slots should have to implement a €1 per spin stake limit. Online table games such as blackjack and roulette will not be permitted. Table games should be offered separately from slot gaming and each state may choose to grant a monopoly to its state lottery regarding this vertical.
There will be a €1,000 monthly spending limit applied for all players. However, if the player wants to, he can increase it up to €10,000. This will be possible only if the player has a maximum bet amount set.
The deadline date to achieve compliance with the upcoming new legislation on gambling is October 15.
What will happen to operators who cannot comply with the regulations?
Operators that breach any of these terms will have their temporary authorization to operate withdrawn. Moreover, they will most probably be blocked from obtaining a license next year.
