The Middle East and North Africa Leisure Attractions Council MENALAC released a report on the leisure and entertainment industry in the Middle East. The region is facing exciting projects worth $350bln mainly in theme parks and family amusement park sectors.
Theme park and attraction operators in the area are investing heavily in technology. Their aim is to create a fully immersive and unique experience for their guests.
Furthermore, the Middle East leisure and entertainment industry is undergoing digital transformation. The upgrades include digital ticketing, cloud-based solutions, digital payment, augmented and virtual reality, and experiential attractions. MENALAC expects the industry to recover faster from the Covid-19 pandemic early next year. This will happen thanks to the increasing deployment of Artificial Intelligence and VR technologies – including VR-based rides.
The young tech-savvy generation remains higher percentage of the population in the Middle East. This will also help the easier deployment and adoption of new technologies in the leisure and entertainment area.
The modern-day family entertainment industry incorporates with it a sizeable factor of technology now more than ever. Whether it is arcade games, VR or AR games, touch screen, or even laser tag style games among others.

According to MENALAC, as the industry recovers from Covid-19, digital and contactless technologies are expected to play a leading role in the transformation of the $80.58 billion leisure resort industry in the Mena region.
With the gradual opening of most parks, theme parks in the area are currently getting more and more busy.
MENALAC expects that as personalization, safety, security, and wearable devices dominate the industry’s future trends, the industry will transform into future-oriented with the adoption of technology.
Yesterday, MENALAC organized their annual conference and awards which was also fully digital due to the pandemic.
