This year the World Series of Poker Main Event will be hybrid. From WSOP revealed that the No-Limit Hold-Em World Championship event will combine both live and online tournaments.

The World Series of Poker is the ultimate championship for all poker players. It’s a unique event where players from all rankings and experience can participate and become the next world poker champion. WSOP includes series of tournaments with different money prizes. Moreover, the winner of each event receives a WSOP gold bracelet, which is considered “the most coveted non-monetary prize a poker player can win”.

The so-called Main Event is actually a $10,000 No-Limit Hold-Em World Championship. Recently WSOP announced that this year’s Main Event will be hybrid. This means that it there will be tournaments online and live. The unique format is a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which prevents some players to participate live.

The games will start on November 29 for the international players at GGPoker.com, while for players from the United States they will begin on December 13 at WSOP.com. Furthermore, US players can participate from either Nevada or New Jersey. There will be only one entry allowed per player.

There will be two final tables – one for the international, and one for the domestic players.

The domestic table with the best 9 players will be played at Rio in Las Vegas on December 28. On the other hand, the international one will occur on December 15 at the King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. However, these two events are still subject to regulatory approval, according to WSOP. Furthermore, the participants in the live tournaments have to follow enhanced COVID-19 health and safety regulations. They will go through health screening prior to entering live games.

WSOP Final Heads-up Championship Event

World Series of Poker Main Event final table is planned for December 30. The 2 winners from the international and the domestic tournaments will meet for the final heads-up event. The final championship table will determine the next World Champion of Poker.

The winner will receive prize of $1 million, the Main Event championship gold bracelet, and the title of 2020 World Champion.

The Executive Director of the World Series of Poker, Ty Stewart said that this year’s Main Event is unique, but so is the year. He added that the WSOP will keep the health and safety of the players as top priority.

“There must be a World Champion in 2020.”
