The world’s biggest online poker operator PokerStars has made some changes with the latest software update from late September. The change consists of a brand new waiting list feature. According to PokerStars, this waiting list will make the game fairer and the overall experience for most players better. However, not all poker players are happy about this update.
At first, the players did not know about the change. They started reporting complaints, asking for PokerStars to give an official explanation. The operator released a statement on the PokerStars blog.
The new system’s name is Active Waiting List and it is designed to combat predatory behavior by some regular players. The feature aims to make it more difficult for experienced players to target new ones. The issue of chasing certain players on the tables is a common problem for many online poker operators.
This system has been designed to encourage engagement and action, while deterring players whose only objective is to join games with weaker opponents.

The active waiting list feature of PokerStars consists of 3 elements:
First, a player must be actively playing at a given table. During this time he can join the waiting list for another one of the same stake.
Second, a free seat is prioritized to players from the waiting list who have currently played more hands at other tables. This means that the first one who joined the waiting list is may not be the first one to sit. Active Waiting List will get rid of “first come, first served” seating.
Third, if a player leaves a game, he is automatically removed from all waiting lists.
Furthermore, the online poker operator introduced other changes to its terms and conditions. They include the requirement for identification check “from time to time”. Moreover, they will be able to charge with commission player accounts with balance inactive for 30 months. Players will have the right to cancel credit by mistake transactions, and so on.
